Senior Graphic Designer (Leave Coverage, 2025 – 12-Month Contract)
The Luminos Fund, a fast-growing international nonprofit bringing education opportunities to the world’s most vulnerable children, seeks an experienced Senior Graphic Designer (Leave Cover, 12-month contract) to produce high-quality digital and print design assets, publications, and PowerPoint presentations that visually communicate Luminos’ mission and impact. This role is integral to maintaining consistent, on-brand, high-quality design assets that enhance our visual storytelling and organizational presence.
The Senior Graphic Designer will focus on creating visually compelling publications, graphic assets for PowerPoint presentations, and templates using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) while ensuring brand consistency across all materials. Experience with website management and maintaining visual assets across digital platforms is a plus. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, creative, and collaborative professional with a strong background in graphic design, publication layout, and digital asset creation.
This full-time, 12-month contract offers remote flexibility, with the requirement to be based within the EST to GMT time zones. The Senior Graphic Designer will report to the Director of Communications and work closely with team members across the organization. This Leave Cover role ideally will begin in January 2025 and run through December 2025.

Duties and Responsibilities

Graphic Design and Content Management
- Design and format documents using Adobe InDesign and Microsoft Word, including funding proposals, concept notes, and reports.
- Utilize Adobe Photoshop to create compelling visual assets for a variety of communications materials.
- Transform executive-level thinking, data, and complex concepts into compelling and easy-to-read PowerPoint slides and graphics free from typos or errors.
- Prepare print-ready files and oversee the print process, ensuring high-quality output. This includes identifying and liaising with print vendors.
- In collaboration with the Communications team and external vendors, design graphics, short animations/videos, and data visualizations for social media platforms.
- Design simple, yet polished email templates in Outlook and/or Mailchimp for event invitations and updates.
- Manage photography and videography assignments, including building detailed shot lists to capture key moments and messages, coordinating logistics, and preparing contracts with photographers and videographers to ensure high-quality visual content.
- Oversee Luminos' digital asset management system to organize, store, and provide easy access to digital assets, ensuring content is appropriately tagged, categorized, and managed for quick retrieval and brand consistency.
Website Management (WordPress)
- Make website updates, including the publication of new content, enhancements to user experience, and design improvements. Always proofread and check for accuracy.
- Troubleshoot minor technical issues in WordPress and liaise with IT or external vendors for more complex updates.
Project Management and Strategic Support
- Work closely with the Director of Communications to support implementing the communications strategy, including providing strategic and logistical support for Luminos events, external conferences, and key meetings. Promptly escalate any potential issues or scheduling conflicts.
- Assist in preparing materials and presentations for events and conferences to ensure consistent and impactful messaging.
Qualifications
Required Experience
- Fluency in the Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
- 5+ years of professional experience in communications, public relations, or marketing, preferably within the nonprofit or education sectors.
- Deep experience with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and PowerPoint.
- A demonstrated track record of producing well-formatted Word documents, PowerPoint decks, and graphics.
- Impeccable writing and editing skills, with attention to detail and an ability to translate complex ideas into clear, engaging content.
- Proven organizational and time management skills.
- Experience working in WordPress, particularly using the Divi Theme.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Availability to start this role in January or February 2025.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with fundraising, nonprofit organizations, or international development.
- Experience with HTML and CSS is a plus.
- Experience with web analytics, SEO, and Google Ads.
- Experience with video editing and light animations is a plus.
