Interim Human Resources Manager – Temporary coverage June through November 2025

The Luminos Fund, a fast-growing international nonprofit bringing education opportunities to the world’s most vulnerable children, seeks an experienced Interim Human Resources Manager to provide temporary leave coverage for the Global People Officer from June through November 2025.

The ideal candidate is a proactive, collaborative team player with global HR generalist experience. The Interim HR Manager will support day-to-day HR operations, coordinate ongoing initiatives, and serve as a trusted advisor to staff and managers across our global organization. Candidates should have experience working in a remote-first environment, as well as with in-office and hybrid teams.

The Interim HR Manager will report to the Global People Officer prior to the start of the leave and to the CEO during the leave period. They will partner closely with the People Operations & Systems Associate, as well as senior leadership across the organization.

This role is expected to be up to 32 hours per week. This role may be located in time zones from GMT-5 to GMT.

Duties and Responsibilities

People Operations & HR Administration

  • Serve as the first point of contact for HR-related queries from staff and managers.
  • Oversee employment lifecycle processes, including onboarding, contract changes, and offboarding.
  • Serve as point of contact for EOR (Employer of Record) providers and HR-related finance inquiries.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and support HR systems administration.

Employee Relations & Policy

  • Provide guidance to managers on performance and employee relations issues.
  • Ensure adherence to HR policies and flag any urgent concerns to leadership.

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Support active recruitments in coordination with hiring managers and stakeholders.
  • Manage onboarding process to ensure a smooth start for new hires globally.

Other Projects

  • Coordinate internal HR communications (e.g., announcements, policy reminders).
  • Support the completion of the Fall 2025 compensation and promotions process.
  • Lead the execution of Fall 2025 employee engagement survey.
  • Continue driving HR initiatives as scoped at the beginning of the leave period.
  • Provide handover notes and documentation to ensure a smooth transition at the end of the contract.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of HR generalist experiencing with progressive growth and responsibility.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Organizational Design, or equivalent experience required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and a proactive mindset.
  • Proven success working remotely and across global, culturally diverse teams.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit or social impact organizations is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English. 
  • Experience overseeing and shepherding global mobility and visa application processes (strongly preferred). 
  • Familiarity with HR systems including HRIS.
